Setting bold targets to tackle gender diversity

With more than 160,000 employees in over 100 countries and a total of 60 languages spoken, Schneider Electric is committed to all forms of diversity. To honour these commitments, Schneider Electric has been developing a proactive strategy with initiatives to include women at every level of the company, from bottom to top, global to local.

Our main initiatives to deliver on that commitment include: requiring our leaders to sign the Women’s Empowerment Principles, promoting Women Empowerment initiatives, such as Women in Leadership workshops, creating change management campaigns, such as IMPACT 10X10X10 with HeForShe and key human resources processes alignment.

Over 2012-2014, 23,460 women were recruited worldwide and in April 2016, women represented 41 per cent of the board of directors of Schneider Electric, with an average age of 54.5, versus an average age of 61.5 for men Board members.

Even if progress has been made, there is still a way to go before the organisation becomes a truly gender-balanced organisation. This requires a deep shift in culture, which makes this transformation one of the most challenging to date, but we are well on our way to achieving that.
